I was fortunate to be loaned an advance copy of a book called BEAUTIFUL CREATURES by Cami Garcia and Margaret Stohl - I am just over 1/2 way through it - and am loving it. I love it when I have trouble putting a book down - and I am trying all day to figure out a way to sit and read it for just a couple of seconds! I can't wait to see what happens next.

I knitted up a pair of "Bella's Mittens" this weekend - I did a gold tone instead of Grey - I love the cable up the back, and that they are so long.....

Burning from the inside out.

Sounds like the beginning of a story of some kind of angst - or an ad for heartburn medicine - but really - this is the story of a large tree stump that is in our burn pile.
When the leaves were set on fire last Sunday - we were surprise to see this tree stump burning in this unusual fashion - it has been three full days - and counting.

Thought that it was sort of odd that it burned this way - our theory is - that even though the bark should have been the driest part of the tree - the middle was rotten enough and even drier - and that it is what caught - burning in a nice fairly symmetrical circle.

We have needed to update some of the lighting in the house since we bought it - and we finally got some of that done this week! Gotta love IKEA!
we decided NOT to rewire this cabinet. So we found this little guy - and he does a great job!
A little extra light in the living room is always welcome! Seems like it is "just hangin out there" I had a hard time getting a picture of it that worked... but it is a nice addition - a floor lamp was not gonna cut it....
These lights may be a little too modern for the house - but they are sure a lot nicer than the ceiling fan that did not work! (I sort of like the contract (old - new) Mike is not thrilled with it....
and FINALLY! and Chandelier in the dining room -

It's beginning to look a lot like THANKSGIVING!

I'm not sure why i said what i said at the end of this video - doesn't even sound like me.... (the words) Basically - I usally let a good "Holy SH**" fly, but - I am mentally preparing for great nieces and grandchildren, so - perhaps I have control than even I know that I'm capable of!
We cut this rotten Silver Maple down in the spring of 2007 to give some breathing space to the Oak trees and the Catalpa tree.
